Suffering is a textbook because suffering varies. La Bible des Pauvres, as an unopenable 'Rhizome' historical document, an artifact that forces the limits of uselessness to be postponed, evokes an alternative reading experience with its subtle polished lines of warp and woof: like a letter to the blind, it teaches one to perceive with the most sensitive, even sensual, nerves the organic text of the same story that has been told throughout the history of mankind. The silky depressions on the smooth surface wait to be decoded by synapses as sharp as phonograph needles, rubbing intimately and singing over mechanical and cold laughter and shouts. Eventually, the last vestiges of body heat will be passed on to the wordless book of potatoes - that polymer of vitality.

About the Artist
Li Hainan was born in China in 1993 and currently resides in ShangHai, China, visual artist. He graduated from École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris DNAP and DNSAP, France.
Relying on a variety of media such as installation and sculpture, Li Hainan intervenes and reconstructs images through a visually dominant artistic language, developing a critical and diverse social practice of political art. He is committed to deconstructing the 'truths' anchored and constructed in historical narratives with a new paradigm, attempting to knock down the framework of commonplace ideas through the strangeness of value anchors, thereby revealing the structural relationship between social territories and the economy under the wave of capital, and thus constructing artistic intuitions into new realities.
