This romantic-shaped tulipière is a contemporary homage to 17th-century Delftware and traditional European folk art. Crafted with a sense of nostalgia for historical ceramics, its form and surface decoration reflect both elegance and intimacy. The hand-painted design features a delicate, watercolour effect which draws attention to the natural beauty of the flowers it is meant to hold.

The decorative surface is directly inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s Almond Blossom paintings. Like Van Gogh, Laura Winstone draws inspiration from nature, particularly in the quiet beauty of the Norfolk landscape. Walks through local fields, hedgerows, and gardens inform much of her work, capturing fleeting moments such as a branch in bloom, shifting skies, or the gentle curve of a flower.

Created especially for this fundraiser, this piece carries a sense of optimism and celebration. This tulipière is designed not just as a functional vase, but as a sculptural showcase that elevates the simple elegance of tulips and other cut flowers. It invites the viewer to pause and reflect on nature, history, and the enduring beauty of craftsmanship.

About the Artist

Laura Winstone is a ceramic artist based in Norfolk, whose work draws deeply from the natural world and historical craft traditions. Working primarily in hand-built forms, she creates sculptural vessels and functional pieces that celebrate the beauty of flowers, landscapes, and seasonal change. Her ceramics often feature hand-painted surfaces with a soft, watercolour-like effect, inspired by daily walks through the Norfolk countryside.

Influenced by 17th-century Delftware and folk art, her work explores different aspects of   nature. Each piece is both decorative and purposefully designed to hold space for beauty in everyday life.

Laura’s work has been featured in exhibitions, fundraisers, and private collections across the UK. She continues to explore ways in which ceramic forms can honour the past while reflecting a deeply personal, contemporary connection to the landscape.
