As a visual artist, Hongyun He is captivated by the interplay between nature, cinematic phenomena, and the dynamics of time and space. In her practice, she employs traditional materials, utilising specialised techniques such as temperature variations and chemical liquid washes alongside randomised methods to reveal their ubiquitous fluidity and shifting textures. The ‘Scenery’ series draws upon the primal elements of earth, wood, water, metal and fire to construct the fundamental essence of the cosmos. These dynamically interwoven textures and enigmatic natural hues resonate with the eternal rhythms of material motion, capturing its fleeting transformative power and the dialogue between eternity and stillness.
