Saskia Olde Wolbers was the first artist to create work at the Van Gogh House under its current owners in 2014. Her extensive research into the house’s history culminated in a sound installation, produced in collaboration with Artangel, that led visitors through the building in its previous state of disrepair.
Weaving together facts, half-truths, beliefs, and conceits, Olde Wolbers uses Van Gogh as a lens to present alternative narratives and existences embedded within 87 Hackford Road over its 200 year lifespan.
This specific still from the film 'Yes, these Eyes are the Windows' (20min HD) is a model of one of the rooms in the Van Gogh House. The film was part of Olde Wolber's solo show 'Unreliable Biographers' hosted in the house in June 2019.

About the Artist
Saskia Olde Wolbers’ short narrative videos combine carefully crafted fictional scripts with visuals that reveal other-worldly environments. Off-screen narrators address the fluidity of fact through biographies relating to notions of translation, neurosis and verisimilitude with an eye for wit and the absurd.
She is a Lecturer at Goldsmiths University and is represented by Maureen Paley, London and Stigter van Doesburg, Amsterdam.
