Lilah Fowler’s art is grounded in interests in technology, infrastructure and landscape, combined with influences from Japanese traditional culture and crafts. Her recent works are derived from bespoke digitally generated patterns that are refined and translated by hand into ceramic forms, using a range of colours, patterns and glaze experiments. The ceramic forms are one medium, among many, used in Fowler’s sculptures, installations and public artworks to explore the possibilities of translation between materials – that range from clay, metalwork and hand-woven textiles to rugs and painted murals.
